User Interface New Features
|
User Interface Upgrades
|
| • |
NEW tool windows give much more flexibility in the user interface. The PAXtool view of thumbnails, the image notepad, and the ID tag may all be used in this new style of interface. |
 |
| • |
The PAXtool thumbnail view may be split out from the other views and docked on an edge of the workspace. A green box now outlines the area of the image that is currently being displayed in the PAX-it workspace, as an aid in panning. |
| • |
The notepad may be docked to an edge of the workspace or floated. Multiple notepads may be stacked together in a tabbed interface for quick access. When switching image views, the notepad will update automatically! |
| • |
The ID Tag may be docked to an edge of the workspace or floated. Multiple ID Tags may be stacked together in a tabbed interface. Fields that are required are indicated in the interface, and a new identifier indicates if the image is calibrated and ready for measurements. The image thumbnail and the image properties also show in the ID tag for quick reference. |
|
Storage Dropdown
|
A new dropdown list from the toolbar allows you to select which storage media you want to open, for quicker access to your different databases. The last accessed database is remembered. |
New Toolbars |
PAX-it now has a whole new set of toolbars with an updated look and feel. You can customize your toolbars or create your own toolbars with the specific tools you want quick access to. |
Recycle Bin
|
A Recycle Bin has been added to PAX-it to receive deleted images or other files. When you restore an image from the Recycle Bin, not only does the image restore, but also the database information, annotations and notepads. Up to 30 separate delete events will be held in the Recycle Bin. |
|
Measurement & Analysis Features
|
Line Name Sequence
|
Users can now create special sets of line sequences for measurements. If you have a routine that you typically measure (“Leg 1”, “Leg 2”, “Throat” then “Penetration”) you can save that sequence and call it back up later for quick and easy measurements. This is perfect for repetitive welding applications. |
Measurement Totals Window
|
The Measurement Totals Window has been updated to make it far more powerful and easy to use.

| • |
Each measurement type (line, arc, area, etc) is now available as a separate tab on the measurement totals window. Just click the tab to view the appropriate data type. |
| • |
Each measurement type can have a different unit of measurement, giving more flexibility in the view of the measurement totals. |
| • |
You may now select alternating colors for rows in the measurement totals window, to make it easier to view. |
| • |
The Measurement Totals window can now export directly to Excel in worksheet format, maintaining all of the tabs on the measurement totals dialog and also exporting the statistics information all at once. |
| • |
You may now click on a detected area on an image and its information will be highlighted in the measurement totals window. This is very useful for locating the data for specific objects. |
| • |
You may now collapse and expand the data or statistics on each of the measurement tabs. This allows you to easily hide data that you are not interested in. |
| • |
You may now sort data columns by clicking on the header of that column. Quickly view measurements by size order, or by alphabetical order, etc., with the click of a button. |
| • |
For layer and coating thickness analysis, each layer has its own tab so that information for each layer or coating is handled separately. |
| • |
You may now hide objects in the measurement totals dialog so that they are not calculated in the statistics. This hide status is remembered even when you close and re-open the image. |
| • |
The Multiple Image Measurement Totals Window has been updated to have many of these new features as well. |
|
Area Detection |
| • |
After an auto-separate of spots you may now have PAX-it! automatically project the perimeter across the sliced area. This also will work on manual slices. This is very useful for circular and elliptical objects that are overlapping. |
| • |
You may now manually report auto or manual separations simply by clicking on the separation. |
| • |
You may add manual separations one at a time without losing the last entered manual separation. You may also start over with new manual separations. |
| • |
A new option for roundness calculation has been added, for “ASTM Shape Factor”. |
|
Automatic Report Generation |
| • |
Report tags may now be added all the way up to column ZZ allowing for large volumes of data to be handled. |
| • |
New tags have been added for feret diameters, object equivalent area, width and height, calibration information and spot centers. |
| • |
Measurement data can now be exported in scientific notation if you choose that option. |
|
Calibration |
| • |
A new “Diagonal Calibration” has been added to PAX-it! to allow calibration via diagonal distance. Instead of lines used to calibrate the system, the user may use crosshairs to line up the left and right edges of a standard that can be at any angle in the image. |
| • |
Each image may now have its own calibration that is not used globally by the rest of the images in the database. This is helpful when you have to do a new calibration for every image, as is the case with some macro work or EM images that have an internal scale. |
|
Other Measurement Features |
| • |
Live measurement values are now displayed on the image as you draw your measurement lines. This can speed up the process of getting a measurement. |
| • |
The perpendicular snap function now works in conjunction with the midpoint and endpoint snap features. |
| • |
You may now set the exact length of a line while drawing it. A keyboard command will pop up a dialog that allows the user to enter the length of the line. |
| • |
An option was added to automatically increase the manual counting feature. This is helpful when manually counting events. |
|
